Deep Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Manjal Pillayar Rekku Border
Deep Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Manjal Pillayar Rekku Border
Deep green Pattani Kattam gives this Kanjivaram an exceptionally disciplined surface, with the minute checks reading almost as texture from a distance. A vivid Manjal border interrupts the green through a Pillayar Rekku joining and classic gold before the pallu opens fully into turmeric yellow.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 42 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 16 on the loom — to complete.

A traditional Kanchi Kattam weave gives this pure mulberry silk Kanjivaram its structure. The body is organised through a tight Pattani Kattam check, a traditional named check scale that sits above the ultra-fine Kasakasa Kattam in the Kanchipuram vocabulary. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: The Manjal border is especially graphic, joined to the green checked body through Pillayar Rekku — a traditional joining technique built from alternating pointed forms — creating a serrated transition between body and edge. A classic-gold zari register and narrow pink accents complete the border.
Pallu: The pallu turns fully into vivid turmeric yellow, with long fine woven lines and restrained contrast detailing that keeps the colour itself dominant.
Styling: A deep-green blouse keeps the checked body central, while Manjal creates a stronger traditional pairing. Antique-gold temple earrings, jasmine and a compact pink accent through the blouse piping or potli can quietly repeat the narrow border colour.
Especially suited to Navratri and Golu gatherings, Vijayadashami, temple programs, classical music events, Deepavali and family ceremonies.
