Deep Grape Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Zari Kattam Gandaberunda Butta and Varisaipet Border

Deep Grape Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Zari Kattam Gandaberunda Butta and Varisaipet Border

Deep grape purple is a colour that carries both devotion and ceremony in the Kanchipuram tradition — and this Kanchi Pattu in the Zari Kattam weave gives it the surface gravity it deserves. Fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid. Each saree takes 8–12 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.

The deep grape purple body is woven in Zari Kattam, where fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid. Gandaberunda Butta — the sacred two-headed eagle of South Indian royal and temple iconography, rendered in gold zari — are woven at measured intervals. Each double-headed silhouette is precise and fully formed, a motif of power and auspiciousness that has graced Kanchipuram ceremonial silks for generations.

The thick Varisaipet border carries dense gold zari in multiple layered bands. The pallu expands the same Varisaipet structure into a full gold expanse with Gandaberunda detail. Explore our full range of Gandaberunda Motif Kanchipuram sarees.

Styling: For Navarathri's most formal evenings, Tamil and Telugu weddings, and occasions where the iconography of the saree carries meaning. A self-colour grape purple silk blouse keeps the body unified; a gold or antique gold blouse creates a richer ceremonial look. Pair with antique gold or jadau jewellery.
