Deep Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Royal Purple Border, Antique Gold Zari Buttas and Ornate Mayil Motif Zari Work
Deep Forest Green gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta saree a beautifully grounded, jewel-toned character. The dark green silk creates a rich background for individually woven antique gold zari buttas placed at measured intervals across the body.
❖ Handwoven to order over 40 days — dyeing through to the final weave, no two pieces identical.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with individually woven decorative motifs placed at measured intervals across the body silk. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The border is the true highlight — a vivid Royal Purple frame surrounds the green body, setting the stage for an elaborate antique gold zari composition filled with traditional Mayil motifs, their curved necks, detailed feathered tails and scrolling botanical forms flowing through an ornamental zari landscape of vines and florals. Fine floral zari bands run above and below the larger motif panel, while a deep raspberry woven section introduces another rich layer of colour beneath the gold. The pallu becomes substantially richer, with a dense antique gold zari field woven in a fine geometric pattern and framed by further Mayil, floral and ornamental zari registers. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Pair it with a Royal Purple blouse to continue the contrast border and let the ornate Mayil zari remain the focal point. Antique temple jewellery would complement the warm gold beautifully, while a small deep raspberry piping detail can subtly echo the woven accent in the border.
