Deep Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Zari Kattam Saree with Dual Gold and Silver Zari Buttas, Arakku Red Pallu and Traditional Zari Border

Deep Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Zari Kattam Saree with Dual Gold and Silver Zari Buttas, Arakku Red Pallu and Traditional Zari Border

Deep Forest Green forms the quiet foundation of this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Zari Kattam saree. Fine zari threads intersect across the body to create a delicate checked field, with small gold and silver-toned zari buttas placed individually through the grid. The result is intricate when viewed closely yet remarkably restrained across the full drape.

❖ 42 days from dye vat to finished drape, with 16 of dedicated loom time for the weave itself.

This is a confirmed Zari Kattam composition in pure mulberry silk, with its defining structure created through very fine zari lines intersecting horizontally and vertically across the silk, producing a precise checked field with small gold and silver-toned zari buttas sitting independently within the grid. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 14 to 18 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The Deep Forest Green body is built through fine intersecting zari lines forming the characteristic Kattam grid, with individually spaced small gold and silver-toned zari buttas sitting within this structured field. The border introduces Arakku Red beneath a richly woven antique-gold traditional motif register, with floral ornament, geometric framing and repeating traditional figural forms built across several finely worked bands. The pallu changes the character of the saree completely: Arakku Red silk becomes the ground for an expansive antique-gold lattice, with tiny woven details filling the diamond structure and larger traditional ornamental forms framing the composition, making the contrast with the fine green Zari Kattam body particularly striking. Explore the Zari Kattam collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Styling: This saree is also part of Idam Living's Vintage edit while retaining Zari Kattam as its Kanchipuram weave classification. Deep green, Arakku Red and antique gold make it especially suited to traditional gold jewellery, temple jewellery and heirloom pieces for weddings, festive gatherings, temple occasions and formal cultural celebrations.
