Deep Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Raspberry-Magenta Zari Border

Deep Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Raspberry-Magenta Zari Border

A Veena or violin recital by a young Indian American artist calls for a saree of quiet, classical elegance. Woven in the Rettapet style — twin parallel border lines create a balanced layered edge — this deep forest green Pure Kanchipuram Silk saree carries scattered gold zari buttas across its body, opening into a striking raspberry-magenta border. Each saree takes 43 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. The body of this pure silk Kanchipuram saree is woven in deep forest green pure mulberry silk, scattered with delicate gold zari buttas across its length. The restrained ornamentation lets the jewel-toned base carry its own weight, building anticipation for the border to come.

The saree opens into a striking raspberry-magenta Rettapet border, richly woven with traditional zari motifs across its twin parallel lines, and continuing into a matching pallu with the same rich zari work.

Let the deep forest green body lead: a tonal blouse in the same forest green keeps the raspberry-magenta border the clear focal point. Antique-gold jhumkas and a low bun finish the look without competing with the zari work.
