Deep Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Maroon Yaanai Border
Deep Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Maroon Yaanai Border
For an Indian American women's leadership gala, here is a saree that carries quiet authority — this Karum Pachai, a deep forest-green, handwoven pure silk Kanchipuram saree is woven in the Zari Kattam style. Fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid. Each saree takes 42 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Handcrafted on family looms in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 42 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 16 on the loom — to complete.

The Zari Kattam body is handwoven in a Karum Pachai deep forest-green pure mulberry silk, patterned with fine gold zari checks and delicate zari motifs scattered across the surface.
A petite deep maroon border is richly woven with a procession of traditional yaanai (elephant) motifs — a classic South Indian temple emblem of strength and auspiciousness — creating a striking frame without overwhelming the saree's understated body.
Styling Tip
Keep the blouse tonal — a deeper forest-green in a raw silk elbow sleeve — and let the maroon border's colour make its one deliberate appearance in a single choker or pair of antique-gold jhumkas. Crisp front pleats and a sleek low bun complete a quietly confident look.
Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m self-colour deep forest-green piece, with complimentary tailoring through August 27 ($30 value). See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
