This is a confirmed Zari Kattam composition. Fine classic-gold zari lines establish an elegant checked geometry across the Ennai Arakku silk, punctuated with traditional zari buttas that create a measured temple-saree rhythm across the body.

Zari Kattam: Kattam refers to the checked or grid-like structure woven through the silk field. Here, fine classic-gold zari creates a disciplined geometry across the deep Ennai Arakku body, while traditional buttas interrupt the checks with small points of ornament.

Border: The borders are particularly commanding. Classic gold zari is organised into structured registers carrying repeated Pakshi-inspired forms, framed by fine Reku lines and delicate geometric edging. The repeated bird-inspired ornament gives the border a distinctly traditional Kanchi cadence while the surrounding linear bands keep the composition disciplined.

Mundhanai: The pallu becomes considerably denser and more architectural. An intricate geometric zari lattice is joined by longitudinal Reku bands and ornamental panels, creating a ceremonial gold composition with the measured rhythm of carved temple architecture.

The effect is almost like antique temple gold against polished Arakku lacquer: deep, glowing and unmistakably South Indian.

Styling: Continue the Ennai Arakku in a tonal silk blouse for the most traditional treatment, or use antique gold to emphasise the geometry of the Kattam and border. Temple jewellery, Kasu Mala, warm gold jhumkas or restrained garnet accents complement the lac-maroon silk beautifully. Keep the mundhanai sufficiently open to reveal its dense lattice and longitudinal zari architecture.
