Deep Emerald Green and Radiant Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Korvai Saree with Thick Mayilkann Gold Zari Border and Grand Orange Pallu

Deep Emerald Green and Radiant Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Korvai Saree with Thick Mayilkann Gold Zari Border and Grand Orange Pallu

The colour is the first thing one notices in this handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram. A deep, saturated Emerald Green body meets a brilliant Radiant Orange border and pallu, creating one of those eternally beautiful South Indian combinations that seems to become richer rather than older with time.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. Korvai sarees like this one typically involve roughly 20 days on the loom, dyeing, threading and weaving the contrasting sections together.

This is a confirmed Korvai composition in pure mulberry silk, with the traditional Korvai technique allowing the deeply contrasting Deep Emerald Green body and Radiant Orange border to meet with strong visual definition. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The Emerald Green is dark, cool and jewel-like, acquiring an almost forest-like depth in softer light. Against it, the Radiant Orange is unapologetically luminous, with antique gold zari acting as the bridge between the two colours. Across the green body, beautifully handwoven gold zari buttas are placed at generous intervals. The border is the true beauty of this piece: a broad, substantial Mayilkann border, named for the traditional peacock-eye motif associated with Kanchipuram weaving, organised into a sequence of woven registers that build richness layer by layer, with fine guard bands, repeated ornamental zari motifs and a dense geometric lattice, while the Radiant Orange silk ground remains visible between the woven sections. The pallu carries the richness forward on a larger scale, with a densely worked geometric centre framed by several ornamental registers in antique gold zari against the Radiant Orange ground. Explore the Korvai collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Styling: Keep the blouse simple enough to let the border remain the focal point. A beautifully fitted Radiant Orange silk blouse creates a strong traditional look, while Deep Emerald Green gives a quieter tonal effect. Antique gold or temple jewellery will echo the Mayilkann border beautifully.
