Deep Emerald Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Floral Paisley Buttas and Neli Chevron Border

Deep Emerald Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Floral Paisley Buttas and Neli Chevron Border

A Kuchipudi or Odissi dance recital by a visiting artist from India calls for a saree with old-world character. Created with the spirit of a vintage Kanchipuram, this deep emerald-green Pure Kanchipuram Silk saree is scattered with beautifully woven traditional paisley and floral motifs. Each saree takes 40 days from dyeing to weaving, roughly 14 of them on the loom, and cannot be replicated by machine. Our weaver families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district bring this saree to life on the loom. Read our story

The body of this pure silk Kanchipuram saree is woven in deep emerald-green pure mulberry silk, its restrained field scattered with traditional paisley and floral buttas.

The body gives way to a thickly woven gold zari border, finished with the distinctive rhythmic Neli chevron pattern, carried through into a pallu with the same old-world, heirloom-toned richness.

Introduce a deep maroon blouse for a considered complementary contrast against the emerald body — an addition, not a colour woven into the saree itself. Antique-gold temple jewellery and a neat centre-parted bun keep the heirloom feel intact.

Blouse Piece Included — 0.8m self-colour silk. Complimentary tailoring through Aug 27 ($30 value). See the stitching guide
