Deep Earth Brown Rettapet Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree with Mayil Motifs
Deep Earth Brown Rettapet Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree with Mayil Motifs
Pure Kanchipuram Silk in a deep earth-brown shade touched by the warmth of cocoa bark and the dusky purple of evening shadows. Tiny golden Kamalam and Mayil buttas glimmer across the body like scattered sparks. The Rettapet border rises in two richly ornamented tiers, where peacocks find their place between Pavun buttas, while the pallu unfolds in long, stately bands of Vanki Pettu zari.
❖ Woven on traditional handlooms by artisan families in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, where generations of weaving knowledge shape every saree. Approximately 18 active days on the loom, followed by careful finishing.

18 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
A Rettapet saree: petite handwoven gold zari Kamalam (lotus) and Mayil (peacock) buttas are distributed across the deep earth-brown body, framed by a layered two-tier border. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border A layered traditional Rettapet border with Mayil motifs interspersed between Pavun buttas, gold zari bands and fine geometric separators.
Pallu A grand, ornate arrangement of long zari bands, including Vanki Pettu and dense ornamental zari weaving, on a matching deep brown ground, finished with dark-brown tassels.
