Deep Burgundy Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Petite Mail Buttas and Yazhi Zari Border

Deep Burgundy gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram saree an immediate depth of colour, remaining saturated across the open folds while the gold zari catches light in measured points across the surface. The body is filled with petite handwoven Mail buttas arranged in a disciplined array grid, creating an unusually ordered rhythm of small gold motifs from one end of the saree to the other.

This is a confirmed Rettapet composition in pure mulberry silk. The small scale of the Mail buttas allows the burgundy silk to remain clearly visible between them, even though the body carries a generous amount of woven detail. Their alignment in repeated rows gives the field a sense of precision, while slight movement through the folds keeps the gold from reading as mechanically uniform.

The border is considerably more elaborate. Handwoven Yazhi motifs repeat through the broader gold zari register, surrounded by several finer woven bands that build the Rettapet edge in layers.
