This is a confirmed Vairaoosi composition in lightweight pure mulberry silk, with a fine closely spaced linear texture handwoven across the Deep Brown Kanchana body. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The body carries the fine, closely spaced linear character associated with Vairaoosi, giving the silk a subtle ribbed appearance as it catches the light, with small gold zari buttas placed at measured intervals across the body. The border becomes considerably more elaborate, with repeating stylized bird motifs woven in antique gold zari and framed by multiple geometric and botanical registers, each band contributing a different rhythm from fine leaf-like edging to structured diamond forms. The richness continues into the pallu, where large circular medallion motifs repeat in a commanding sequence, surrounded by narrow ornamental bands and finely woven geometric detailing. Explore the Vairaoosi collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Styling: Pair it with a tonal Deep Brown blouse for a sophisticated monochromatic look, or use antique gold detailing at the neckline or sleeve to echo the border. Traditional gold jewellery works beautifully, while minimal jewellery allows the intricate woven border and pallu to remain the focus.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
