Deep Aubergine Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Antique Gold Zari Buttas, Grand Mayil Border and Arakku Red Selvedge
Deep Aubergine Purple gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Butta saree remarkable depth. A dense field of tiny antique-gold zari buttas creates a measured rhythm across the deep purple body, notably finer in scale than many other Idam Living Butta sarees.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. This piece represents about 26 active days on the loom.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with small individually spaced zari motifs set against an open silk ground, leaving the body relatively uncluttered between each motif. This particular piece represents approximately 26 active days on the loom, though weaving time varies by piece. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The silk moves between dark purple, plum and brown-toned aubergine through the folds, revealing warmer purple and dark brinjal undertones under brighter light. The border becomes considerably more elaborate with a broad antique-gold Mayil (peacock) register, traditional ornamental scrollwork and multiple geometric zari bands. A narrow Arakku Red selvedge runs along the finishing edge, introducing a precise warm contrast beneath the purple and gold. The pallu develops into a dense antique-gold composition with fine geometric lattice, repeated traditional registers and prominent Mayil detailing. Pair it with Deep Aubergine Purple for a tonal treatment, Arakku Red for a sharper traditional contrast, or antique gold for a more ceremonial blouse pairing.
