Deep Aubergine Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Korvai Magenta Medallion Border
Deep Aubergine Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Korvai Magenta Medallion Border
A Rakhi (Raksha Bandhan) family gathering, with a silk saree for the sister hosting the celebration, calls for a saree of exceptionally rich, heritage presence. This deep aubergine Pure Kanchipuram Silk Korvai saree is scattered with petite traditional gold zari buttas. Body and border are woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom. Each saree involves two separate weaving processes — the Korvai construction requires body and border to be woven on separate looms before structural interlocking — 45 days from dyeing to weaving, roughly 20 of them on the loom, and cannot be replicated by machine. Handwoven with generations of skill by families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story
43 days from dye vat to finished drape, with 20 of dedicated loom time for the weave itself.
The body of this pure silk Kanchipuram saree is woven in deep, almost ink-like aubergine pure mulberry silk, scattered with petite traditional gold zari buttas across its length.
The dark body is dramatically contrasted with a vivid magenta Korvai border, densely handwoven with large traditional zari medallions and finely articulated ornamental bands, continuing into a pallu with the same luminous gold and magenta work.
Keep the blouse within the same deep aubergine family for a long, uninterrupted monochrome silhouette, letting the vivid magenta border provide the single point of contrast. Minimal antique-gold jewellery and a free-fall pallu complete the look.
