Deep Aubergine Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Korvai Peacock Motif Border

Deep Aubergine Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Korvai Peacock Motif Border

Varalakshmi Vratam puja, observed at home with family and neighbours, calls for a saree with warmth and reverence, and this Deep Aubergine Pure Silk Kancheepuram saree fits the occasion. Body and border are woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom — the defining construction of Korvai weaving. Each saree involves two separate weaving processes, taking 45 days from dyeing to weaving, and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven on traditional looms by families across Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced.

This saree took 45 days to make — the silk is dyed, threaded, and hand-woven over roughly 20 days on the loom.

The body is deep aubergine, in pure mulberry silk, scattered with gold zari buttas. Discover more Korvai Kanchipuram silks.

The Korvai border is finished with a burnt-orange silk-thread panel and elaborate gold zari peacock motifs, continuing into the pallu — a warm, devotional colour combination suited to home rituals.

Styling Tip

Introduce a jewel-toned blouse in emerald or ruby to sharpen the aubergine body without competing with the burnt-orange border. Antique-gold jewellery and a simple braid keep the overall look devotional and appropriate for a home puja setting.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m self-colour aubergine silk. Complimentary custom stitching through Aug 27 ($30 value) — see our Blouse Stitching Guide.
