Crimson Vermilion Kanjivaram Silk Saree with small Gandaberunda Buttas

Crimson Vermilion Kanjivaram Silk Saree with small Gandaberunda Buttas

Crimson vermilion is one of the most vivid and auspicious colours in the South Indian festive palette — a red that carries temple warmth and celebratory energy in equal measure. This Kanjivaram carries small Gandaberunda Butta across the full body in antique gold zari — the sacred two-headed eagle of South Indian royal and temple iconography, each one woven at measured intervals across the vivid vermilion silk. Each saree takes 8–12 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family’s artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.

The crimson vermilion body is 100% pure mulberry silk. The Gandaberunda Butta — small, precisely rendered double-headed eagle motifs in antique gold zari — are placed in a measured all-over rhythm across the body, the antique gold sitting warmly against the vivid vermilion ground. The Gandaberunda is a motif of power and auspiciousness that has graced Kanchipuram ceremonial silks for generations. Explore our full range of Gandaberunda Motif Kanchipuram sarees.

The soft blush pink border carries a delicate gold zari edge, the pale pink creating a refined and unexpected contrast to the vivid vermilion body — the border framing the saree softly without overpowering the richness of the body colour. The pallu continues in blush pink with antique gold zari detail.

Styling: Crimson vermilion and blush pink is suited to Navarathri, Tamil and Telugu weddings, festive family occasions, and cultural events where vivid colour and traditional iconography are both called for. A crimson or blush pink silk blouse works equally well. Pair with antique gold or temple gold jewellery.
