Crimson Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Gold Zari Buttas and Silver-Grey Varisaipet Border
Crimson Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Gold Zari Buttas and Silver-Grey Varisaipet Border
A girls' get-together over chai — everyone dressed in their favourite silk — calls for a saree of vibrant, festive colour. This saree is handwoven in the traditional Varisaipet style — a traditional multi-band border structure with repeated woven lines. Each saree takes 42 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
The body is a vibrant crimson red pure mulberry silk, left uncluttered but for delicately spaced gold zari buttas that let the richness of the silk itself shine through. This is a signature Kanchipuram pure silk Kanchipuram construction, prized for its understated elegance.
The contrasting silver-grey border is woven in the traditional Varisaipet style, with intricate gold zari motifs and geometric detailing offering a sophisticated blend of warm and cool metallic tones. The pallu continues the same silver-grey and gold zari detailing in a fuller sweep.
A timeless choice for weddings, festive celebrations, and traditional family occasions. Pair with a deep grey or antique-gold silk blouse and classic gold jewellery — a temple necklace, jhumkas, and bangles — for a rich, celebratory finish.
