Kanchi Kattam describes intersecting silk threads that form a structured checkered grid across the body. This piece is woven using 2gm zari thread, a heavier gauge than standard Kanchipuram zari, giving the checks genuine texture. Each saree takes 8 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine.
