Coral Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Varisaipet Mayil Chakram Butta

Coral Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Varisaipet Mayil Chakram Butta

Coral red in Kanchipuram silk is the colour of the late afternoon sun — warm, vivid, and deeply festive. This Kanjipuram is woven in the Varisaipet tradition, the body a plain coral red pure mulberry silk carrying the distinctive Mayil chakram Butta — a two-material butta where the peacock eye motif is rendered in silk thread interwoven with zari. This combination of silk thread and gold zari in the same butta gives the body a surface richness that pure zari alone cannot achieve. Each saree takes 8–12 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.

The Mayil chakram Butta continue across the full body in the Varisaipet weave, the peacock eye medallion catching light differently depending on whether the silk thread or the zari catches the angle. Browse all Mayil Chakram Butta Kanchipuram sarees.

The border and pallu are structured in the Varisaipet tradition — the traditional multi-band border structure with repeated woven lines in gold zari — the border carrying the Mayil chakram Butta vocabulary across its field, the pallu expanding the same Varisaipet structure across the full terminal expanse.

Styling: For festive occasions, engagement ceremonies, and Navarathri. A coral red silk blouse keeps the body self-colour for a unified look; a contrasting blouse in ivory or champagne creates a softer, more contemporary combination. Pair with rose gold or antique gold jewellery.
