Champagne Gold and Rust Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Korvai Border
Champagne Gold and Rust Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Korvai Border
A Tamil family in Schaumburg, Illinois, is celebrating a Sashtiabdhapoorthi, and the couple's daughters are choosing sarees that honour the occasion with the right weight of gold.
This Kanjivaram pure silk saree opens in champagne gold — a warm, luminous tone that carries the shimmer of raw gold thread woven into silk — made in the Lightweight Silk tradition with finer 2-ply and 3-ply mulberry silk yarns and a fine zari grid running across the body that gives it the presence of a heavier weave with the ease of a lighter one. Floral Butta in self-tone gold zari appear at intervals across the body, barely distinguishable from the ground until the saree moves.
The border is a Korvai construction in rust orange — body and border woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom — with a transition band of fine horizontal gold zari lines and a central band of interlocking geometric Kamalam motifs in antique gold. The pallu deepens the rust orange with a full zari lattice that gives the saree its celebratory gravitas — the gold body and rust orange border is a warm, sun-soaked colour pairing that carries the energy of a milestone celebration in its very weave.
