Canary Yellow and Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Thazhampoo Reku Border

Gifted to a mother-in-law on a festive occasion, this canary yellow Kanjivaram is a statement of heritage and abundance — a saree that carries the joy of the loom in every thread. Woven by master artisans in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, this saree is crafted in the Kanchi Kattam weave structure, where intersecting silk threads form a structured checkered grid across the body.

The body is a celebration of colour — a rich canary yellow ground with bold checks formed by intersecting magenta, rust orange, and olive green silk threads across the entire field, creating a vibrant, joyful Paalum Pazhamum-inspired multicolour check. The body and border are separately woven and structurally interlocked on the loom — the hallmark of the Korvai technique — ensuring a seamless, enduring join between silk and zari.

The border is woven in olive green with a Thazhampoo Reku — a traditional multi-band border structure with repeated woven lines — and features a Kaal Irangiya temple motif at the border junction. The pallu falls in a sweep of rich canary yellow, unadorned and luminous, allowing the body checks and Korvai border to take full ceremonial precedence.
