Burnt Orange and Crimson Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Yazhi Border and Pallu

Burnt Orange and Crimson Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Yazhi Border and Pallu

For a bride who chooses copper over gold and strength over softness, this burnt orange and crimson Korvai Kanchipuram commands attention. The body and border are woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom in the Korvai technique.

The burnt orange body glows with a deep copper warmth — the pure mulberry silk carrying a characteristic sheen that shifts between amber and terracotta in different light. Scattered across the body are gold zari motifs: a graceful Mayil butta (peacock) and a small snowflake-like Kamalam, placed alternately with quiet confidence. A fine gold zari Veldhari line runs along the length of the body, framing the motifs.

The border is woven separately in deep crimson and Korvai-interlocked — broad, grand, and densely worked. The pallu is exceptional: a full Yazhi motif composition in gold zari, flanked by the Manthulir selvedge in the deep forest green tone, the border carrying intricate elephant and florals rendered in immaculate gold zari weave.
