This Kanjivaram saree carries a traditional Lightweight Kanchipuram construction in pure mulberry silk, with warm brick-red to terracotta-red plain silk body with a quiet lustre and no clearly identifiable body buttas. The restrained, largely plain body leaves the border to carry the ornament. The photographs do not establish a particular warp-weft ply count, korvai interlock, zari composition or other specialist loom construction. Handwoven for Idam Living by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. A saree of this type represents approximately 21 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Deep arakku-maroon contrast border with broad gold zari band, tiny serrated edging and a fine geometric zigzag register.
Pallu: Deep maroon pallu carrying spaced vertical fine zari stripes. Explore the Lightweight Kanchipuram collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Pair with a deep maroon blouse, small gold studs and a restrained necklace. The broad gold border is the main ornament, while the vertical stripes of the pallu give the drape a clean architectural finish.
