Brick Orange Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Zari Kattam Body and Gold Zari Border
Brick Orange Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Zari Kattam Body and Gold Zari Border
Brick orange in Kanchipuram Zari Kattam is a colour of harvest warmth and festive energy — the orange of temple lamp flames and autumn ceremony. Fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid, the defining signature of the Zari Kattam weave, running through the brick orange silk in a warm, saturated shimmer that deepens the colour toward gold. Woven by our family’s artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
The brick orange body is woven in Zari Kattam, where fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid. The gold grid and the orange silk read almost as a single warm register in indirect light, the Zari Kattam shimmer enriching the body tone rather than contrasting with it. Small Pavun Butta — compact gold zari motifs — are woven at intervals across the body, each one catching light cleanly against the warm orange ground.
The self-colour brick orange border transitions to a forest green accent edge at the outer line — a Kanchipuram classic contrast that gives the warm orange a cooler complement. A gold zari band defines the border, and the pallu carries the same structure, the forest green accent holding the bottom edge in a clean, traditional finish.
Styling: Brick orange and forest green with gold is an Onam, Pongal, and Navarathri palette. A brick orange silk blouse keeps the body unified; a forest green blouse picks up the border accent. Pair with antique gold jewellery — small jhumkas, a simple gold necklace, and thin gold bangles.
