Bottle Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Zari Kattam Grid and Peacock Butta Border

Bottle Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Zari Kattam Grid and Peacock Butta Border

Wedding reception evenings in the diaspora call for a saree with real depth of colour — something that holds its own under banquet-hall lighting from the muhurtham right through to the sangeet. This saree is woven in the Zari Kattam style: fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid. Each saree takes 13 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.

The body is a deep bottle green pure mulberry silk, self-coloured as is traditional for Zari Kattam work, with the fine gold grid interrupted by scattered gold zari buttas and roundels across the field. Explore more from our Zari Kattam Kanchipuram collection.

The border and pallu open into a wide gold and rust orange band, densely woven with bird-motif buttas and paisley detailing — a ceremonial border traditionally reserved for weddings and major family milestones, from our pure silk Kanchipuram collection.

Pair with a rust orange or deep maroon blouse, and statement gold jewellery — a temple necklace, jhumkas, and a vanki armlet — for a wedding reception, sangeet, or milestone anniversary celebration.
