Black Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Multicolour Ettukol Temple Border
Black Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Multicolour Ettukol Temple Border
For a traditional dress-up evening with the girls, with pattu sarees and old stories setting the mood, this handwoven pure silk Kanjipuram makes an unusually graphic statement. The saree belongs to Idam Living's New Traditional Temple Border collection and is woven in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, using the confirmed Ettukol tradition. Read our story →

The body is a deep black pure mulberry silk, kept deliberately restrained so the colour and border can take the lead. Small handwoven gold zari buttas are spaced lightly across the field, creating narrow flashes of light against the dark silk without disturbing its clean, composed surface. The border is the defining feature. Oversized traditional temple forms rise sharply from the black ground in alternating mint-aqua, soft lilac and antique-gold appearance zari, creating a bold, almost architectural rhythm. The pallu remains grounded in the same dark colour family but becomes considerably richer, opening into long vertical mint, lilac and antique-gold registers that repeat the border palette in a more linear composition. Styling: Let the blouse become the deliberate statement. Choose a clean silk blouse in the soft lilac or mint-aqua already present in the border, with a sculptural neckline or beautifully finished sleeves. Keep jewellery restrained in antique gold and allow the large temple edge and striped pallu to remain completely visible.
