Betel Leaf Green Checked Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Deep Plum Korvai Vanasringaram Pallu
Betel Leaf Green Checked Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Deep Plum Korvai Vanasringaram Pallu
Building an heirloom trousseau, one Kanjeevaram at a time, this handwoven pure silk Kancheepuram brings a particularly fresh colour story to traditional Korvai weaving. Broad green and ivory checks meet a richly ornamented deep plum border and pallu, giving the saree a graphic clarity from a distance and extraordinary detail up close. Handwoven by generations of artisans in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
❖ This saree spent roughly 32 days on the loom alone — the interplay of checks and zari buttas takes time to weave precisely.

The pure mulberry silk body is woven in broad checks of vivid Betel Leaf Green, softer eucalyptus green and warm ivory. In traditional colour language, the deeper green recalls Vetrilai Pachai, the fresh green of a betel leaf. Small circular gold zari buttas appear at measured intervals across the checks, adding points of light without interrupting the clean rhythm of the body. Explore our Pure Silk Kanchipuram collection.
The contrast becomes richer at the border, where deep jewel-toned plum forms the ground for dense antique-gold appearance zari. Clearly defined elephant forms move through curling floral vines and foliage, framed by fine ornamental and geometric bands. The pallu continues in deep plum as a Vanasringaram composition, densely illuminated with a fine repeating zari field and richly worked flora and fauna-inspired ornament. The cool freshness of the checks against the saturated plum gives this saree its distinctive character. Explore our Korvai Kanchipuram sarees.
Styling: Let uncut diamonds or polki bring a softer old-world sparkle against the cool green checks and deep plum zari. Choose a clean deep-plum or warm-ivory blouse, keep the neckline relatively open, and wear the richly woven pallu broad over the shoulder so its dense antique-gold work remains fully visible.
