Turmeric Yellow Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Emerald Green Mayil Zari Border

Turmeric Yellow Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Emerald Green Mayil Zari Border

Bright Manjal yellow carries the warmth of turmeric and temple lamps, set against deep emerald green with flashes of royal violet and gold. The colour combination is vivid, ceremonial and unmistakably at home in a Kanchipuram silk.

❖ Woven in Kanchipuram over 18 days on the loom, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by artisans who have handed this craft down through generations.

The Rettapet construction gives the edge its strong twin-register framing. Petite Kamalam zari buttas punctuate the yellow body before the saree moves into a deep emerald-green border layered with gold zari and Mayil motifs. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Deep emerald green is sharpened by violet accents and repeated Mayil zari motifs, with Rettapet layering giving the edge a strong architectural frame.

Pallu: A royal-violet field opens into dense gold lattice work and peacock zari registers, framed again in green and warm orange accents. It has substantial visual richness when brought over the shoulder.

Styling: An emerald-green blouse would make the yellow feel especially luminous. For a stronger festive look, pick up the violet accent instead. Antique-gold jewellery, jasmine and a simple pleated drape will let the border and pallu do the work.

Beautiful for Diwali gatherings, Karthigai Deepam, wedding ceremonies, temple celebrations, cultural programs and special occasions.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What does Rettapet mean in this saree?
Rettapet refers to the traditional twin-register border treatment that gives the edge stronger framing. On this saree the structure is especially visible through the layered green, violet and zari sections.
What motifs appear on this yellow Kanjivaram?
Petite Kamalam zari buttas appear across the body, while Mayil motifs enrich the border. The pallu continues the peacock language against a dense zari lattice.
How does this colour combination look when draped?
The Manjal yellow remains luminous through the body, while emerald green gives the pleats and lower edge weight. Violet appears as a jewel-toned accent and becomes much more prominent at the pallu.
Can Idam Living design a blouse around the green and violet border?
Yes. A custom blouse can be developed around either the emerald green, violet accent or the yellow body, depending on whether you want a traditional or higher-contrast finish.
Are small variations normal in a handwoven Rettapet border?
Small changes in handloom tension or motif placement can occur in genuine handwoven silk. These natural variations are different from damage, which is checked separately during quality control.
