Turmeric Yellow and Black Checked Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Paalum Pazhamum Saree
Turmeric Yellow and Black Checked Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Paalum Pazhamum Saree
Turmeric yellow has a glow all its own. Here, that ceremonial manjal brightness meets deep black and olive-bronze silk in generously proportioned checks, with glimmers of gold appearing as the saree moves.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 19 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

This Paalum Pazhamum Kanjivaram sets manjal yellow against black and earthy olive-bronze in an ordered multicolour body. Kamalam lotus and peacock buttas appear in gold within selected squares, balancing the large-scale checks with small traditional motifs. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 19 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Just a slender line of gold zari runs along the edge, framed by the dark selvedge. This reserved border lets the checks hold the eye and gives the saree a surprisingly graphic presence.
Pallu: The black pallu is generously filled with gold zari in a diamond lattice, bordered by dense traditional peacock-patterned ornament. Against the yellow silk body, this deep gold finish lends the drape a rich ceremonial close.
Styling: Wear it with a fitted plain black blouse, or choose muted bronze silk to bring out the softer squares. Small gold earrings, a sleek plait and perhaps fresh jasmine are enough. This balance of warm yellow and dark checks is especially beautiful for a morning pooja or Deepavali family celebration.
