Thulir Pachai Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Rettapet Saree with Aubergine Border
Thulir Pachai Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Rettapet Saree with Aubergine Border
The green of a newly opened leaf, set against the rich purple of a ripened brinjal and touched with old gold. The Rettapet composition uses paired gold zari registers over the aubergine-purple border to frame a notably fresh green body with little spaced buttas.
❖ This saree was woven over 18 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by weaver families whose craft has been passed down for generations.

Woven in the Rettapet tradition, Fresh spring-leaf green pure silk with tiny, widely spaced gold zari buttas set over a soft natural silk sheen. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: A distinct deep aubergine-purple Rettapet double-register border, each broad purple section edged with geometric gold zari and repeated little stylised floral and scrolling zari patterns, with a fine rust-orange accent line.
Pallu: A densely patterned gold zari diamond lattice field in the deep aubergine setting, framed by fine floral brocade borders and triangular zari edging.
Styling: Try an aubergine silk blouse with elbow-length sleeves to echo the border, or a quiet gold blouse for a brighter ceremonial mood. Antique-gold jewellery and a neat low knot make the contrast particularly beautiful for family weddings, Karthigai gatherings and festive house celebrations.
