Thulir Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Varisaipet Saree with Magenta Pink Zari Border

Thulir Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Varisaipet Saree with Magenta Pink Zari Border

The green of new leaves after the first rain, Thulir Pachai, glows across this Kanchipuram silk. Magenta-pink borders rise in fine stacked registers, touched with woven gold and dark accent lines, giving the vibrant green a purposeful architectural frame.

❖ This saree was woven over 16 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by weaver families whose craft has been passed down for generations.

Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, the border is built from a succession of slim, deliberately layered bands of silk thread and zari. The fresh green body is scattered with spaced Mayil Chakram buttas, so the gold motifs echo the border without competing with its multicoloured rhythm. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: The Varisaipet border is built from fine stacked magenta-pink, vermilion, deep green-black and gold bands. Gold zari floral and figurative panels alternate with slim dark silk lines, giving the border its lively step-by-step cadence.

Pallu: A vivid magenta-pink pallu with intricate gold zari diagonal striped registers, ornamental floral bands and narrow multi-stripe framing.

Styling: A deep magenta blouse with understated sleeve edging draws out the border, or choose a fresh green blouse for a seamless body colour. Traditional gold jewellery with a few ruby-pink accents is enough. Gather the pleats neatly to show the repeated colour bands at their most graphic.

An expressive choice for Navratri and Vijayadashami gatherings, festive temple visits and Diwali celebrations.

Frequently bought together

What does Varisaipet mean in this Kanjeevaram saree?
Varisaipet describes a multi-band traditional border arrangement. Here thin magenta-pink, dark silk and gold zari registers are stacked into a repeated sequence along the edge.
What shade of green is Thulir Pachai?
Thulir Pachai evokes newly sprouted leaves. The saree body is a vivid, fresh yellow-green rather than a deep bottle or emerald green.
How do the Mayil Chakram buttas work with the layered border?
Spaced peacock and circular medallion buttas bring small gold accents to the open green body. The densely detailed border then becomes the strongest decorative feature when the silk is draped.
Can the colours of the Varisaipet border guide a blouse design?
Yes. Magenta pink provides strong contrast, while matching green allows the stacked border to stand out. Our blouse stitching service can discuss neckline and sleeve details based on the colours you would like to repeat.
Will custom stitching affect when this saree is dispatched?
Custom blouse stitching and other finishing services may add to preparation time. Contact Idam Living with your event date before ordering so our team can advise on available timelines without promising an unsupported arrival date.
