Sunset Orange and Violet Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Maragatham Green Pallu

Sunset Orange and Violet Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Maragatham Green Pallu

A gathering of colour like a garden just before sunset, this handwoven Kanchi Kattam saree plays glowing orange against lotus pink and saturated violet. The large silk checks find their counterpoint in a beautifully deep Maragatham green, bringing the vibrancy back into quiet Kanchipuram balance.

❖ Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — this saree spent 28 days on the loom, woven by artisan families who have practiced this craft for generations.

Woven in the Kanchi Kattam tradition, the body is built from precisely aligned, broad multicolour silk checks in orange, pink and violet, with softened interwoven shades at their crossings. Along the transition, pointed colour breaks create a lively, flame-like rhythm. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 28 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree.

Border: A narrow Maragatham green silk edge with closely ordered gold-toned woven lines runs along the saree, giving the exuberant checked body a finely disciplined frame. The pointed colour transition is visible where the checked field meets the green.

Pallu: The green pallu is lined with slender, repeating gold-toned stripes and a wider lustrous yellow-gold central band. Its quiet linear order balances the spirited colour checks of the body.

Styling: Try a simple forest-green blouse or a deep aubergine blouse with old-gold earrings. A loose braid with a small string of jasmine will keep the colour combinations light and youthful. The broad checks will make their own impression without heavy jewellery.

Beautiful for Diwali gatherings, autumn family celebrations and daytime classical arts events.

Frequently bought together

What gives the body of this Kanchi Kattam saree its vivid colour play?
Broad orange, pink and violet silk checks are interwoven so that their intersections carry softer mixed tones, creating a lively but ordered field.
How does the green pallu balance the bright checks?
The deep Maragatham green pallu is arranged in narrow gold-toned stripes and a broader yellow-gold band, giving the checked body a calm linear contrast.
Is the pointed colour transition a separate printed embellishment?
No printed motif is specified here. The pointed transition is part of the visible colour arrangement in the woven saree.
What blouse and jewellery work with these colours?
A plain forest-green or violet blouse with small old-gold jewellery lets the large orange, pink and violet checks remain the focal point.
Does the saree include a blouse piece and finishing?
Yes. The saree measures 6.3 m in total, including a 0.8 m running blouse piece. Fall and Picot finishing is complimentary.
