Sea Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Rani Pink Border

Sea Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Rani Pink Border

A fresh wash of sea-green, like shallow water beneath a clear sky, meets the brightness of rani pink and the ember warmth of coral red. The gold-toned zari draws these unlikely colours into a distinctly Kanchipuram harmony.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

In this Zari Kattam silk, tiny gold-toned checks pass over the cool green ground like a meticulous field of light. Their compact geometry gives way to the border's broader framed brocade and an intensely detailed coral-red pallu. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Bold rani-pink border finished with wide gold-toned brocade panels, separated into framed figurative and floral ornamental sections.

Pallu: Grand coral-red to vermilion pallu, densely worked in gold-toned circular medallions, tiny geometric grids, ornamental dividers and broad figurative registers in the outer border.

Styling: Let the unexpected cool-green and warm-red dialogue remain visible: a plain rani-pink blouse or a softly muted gold blouse would both work well. Finish with gold jhumkas and a low braid rather than an elaborate necklace. The dramatic coral pallu is especially beautiful when allowed to fall fully across the shoulder.

Frequently bought together

How does Zari Kattam show up against the sea-green body?
The fine gold-toned grid is woven throughout the cool aqua-green field. It reads as close geometric texture rather than large independent buttas, becoming more pronounced where the silk catches the light.
Is the pallu red or pink?
The pallu appears predominantly warm coral-red with dense gold-toned weaving, while the bordering silk is vivid rani pink. Both sit against the much cooler seafoam-green body.
What makes the border visually different from the body?
The body uses small ordered zari checks. Along the rani-pink border the work becomes larger and figurative, divided into decorated gold panels that frame the drape.
What blouse would tie together the three main colours?
A rani-pink blouse repeats the edging, while muted gold keeps the look centred on the woven work. Idam Living can help plan a custom blouse with your preferred neckline and sleeve length.
Does this saree need special care because of the dense zari pallu?
Dry clean only and keep it folded in soft muslin away from direct sunlight. Avoid spraying perfume on the silk or zari, and refold periodically so the same creases do not remain in place for long periods.
