Sage Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Zari Kattam Saree with Orange Edge
Sage Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Zari Kattam Saree with Orange Edge
The still green of young leaves in the hour before the sun grows strong: this sage Kancheepuram silk has that same quiet softness. Its orderly zari lattice and little gold kamalam blooms catch the light gently, while a slender orange edge lends a sudden note of festival warmth.
❖ 16 days on the loom, handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu by artisan weaver families. Every purchase supports their village and this centuries-old tradition.

Woven in the Zari Kattam tradition, a soft sage-green field is finely lined by a Zari Kattam grid. Evenly dispersed small kamalam buttas appear as delicate gold points, leaving ample space for the unusual muted green and the silk texture to breathe. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: An ornamental gold-zari band depicts yaanai elephants, mayil peacocks and vanam-inspired foliage in repeating registers. Slim Veldhari stripes add the linear intervals of Varisaipet beneath it, ending at a lively orange selvedge that sharpens the otherwise gentle palette.
Pallu: A generous gold-shimmering brocade field covers the pallu, with fine small-scale woven detail and border bands that echo the patterned edges.
Styling: For a daytime temple visit or a Deepavali lunch, bring out the colour with an orange raw-silk blouse and small temple-jewellery drops. At a family engagement, choose a sage blouse, a simple chain and fresh kanakambaram flowers so the orange edge feels like a considered, delicate accent.
