Royal Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Varisaipet Saree with Blush Pink Double Kili Kamalam Border

Royal Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Varisaipet Saree with Blush Pink Double Kili Kamalam Border

Royal blue meets soft blush pink in a contrast that is bright, fresh and unmistakably silk-rich. Gold zari travels between the two colours through a remarkable sequence of tiny registers, each one narrow enough to reward a closer look.

❖ This saree carries 16 days of loom work behind it, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan families continuing a generations-old craft.

The Varisaipet construction is especially intricate here. Double Kili motifs sit together upon Kamalam forms, with small floral buttas woven between them, while the border is built through minute rows of Arai Maadam, Kolam and Muthu Seer. The precision of so many tiny registers sitting cleanly one above another is the kind of practiced handloom discipline that gives Kanchipuram weaving its unmistakable character. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Soft blush pink carries the gold zari through closely stacked Arai Maadam, Kolam and Muthu Seer registers, with Double Kili and Kamalam imagery creating the main figurative rhythm.

Pallu: The pallu follows the same disciplined language, expanding the narrow registers into a richly stacked ornate finish while preserving the blush-pink and gold palette.

Styling: Blush pink creates a softer blouse pairing, while royal blue gives a more saturated formal finish. Keep the jewellery mostly gold and the drape uncluttered so the minute border registers can be appreciated rather than hidden.

Beautiful for Diwali, Karthigai Deepam, wedding receptions, temple gatherings, classical performances and family ceremonies.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What makes this a Varisaipet Kanchipuram saree?
Its border is constructed through a sequence of narrow traditional registers rather than one single broad motif field. Arai Maadam, Kolam and Muthu Seer details are stacked closely to create the characteristic layered Varisaipet rhythm.
What is the main motif on this royal-blue saree?
The most distinctive motif is the Double Kili, a pair of parrots placed on a Kamalam form. Smaller floral buttas are woven between the larger motifs so the body retains both detail and breathing space.
Why is the border especially intricate?
Much of its richness comes from scale. Several very small zari registers are aligned one above another, requiring the design to remain precise even when each individual band is narrow.
Which blouse colour would work best?
Blush pink will repeat the border and soften the royal blue, while a royal-blue blouse will make the saree feel more continuous. Idam Living can design either treatment through the custom blouse service.
Are handloom variations expected in such finely stacked zari work?
Tiny variations in tension or alignment can occur in handwoven silk and are part of the handloom process. Idam Living separately checks for actual damage or significant weaving defects before dispatch.
