Smoky Grey & Bottle Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Kai Korvai Border

Smoky Grey & Bottle Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Kai Korvai Border

A beautiful grey born not of a single colour, but of thousands of minute black-and-white kattams, brought together with remarkable precision on the Kanchipuram loom. Like the softened shades of a rain-washed stone courtyard, the silk carries a quiet, almost silvery depth. Up close, the intricacy of its micro-checks becomes the true ornament of the body.

The contrast arrives in a rich bottle green, deep as the leaves of an old temple garden. A traditional Kai Korvai border, delicately defined by Pillayar Reku, brings together the grey body and green silk. Within the beautifully composed border, elephants and peacocks alternate in a ceremonial procession, surrounded by intricate antique-gold zari. The ornamental arrangement is further distinguished by Mullai Pet and Vanki Pet detailing, giving the border its unmistakable old-world Kanchipuram character.

The pallu offers an elegant contrast to this richness. Woven in a graceful Seer Pallu arrangement, fine and evenly spaced gold zari bands travel across the slate-grey silk with remarkable rhythm and precision. There is a wonderful restraint to this composition: every line considered, every detail finding its place.

A Kanchipuram for those who appreciate the extraordinary beauty of quiet colour, elaborate traditional borders and the discipline of a finely handwoven silk.

Styling note: Pair with antique gold, temple jewellery or a beautifully tailored bottle-green blouse. A lovely choice for temple celebrations, Vijayadashami gatherings, Diwali and meaningful family occasions.
