Pomegranate Red and Emerald Green Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree
Pomegranate Red and Emerald Green Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree
Pomegranate & Emerald — A Celebration of Living Colour
As radiant as the heart of a ripe pomegranate and as deep as the green of mango leaves after the monsoon, this lightweight Kanchipuram is a beautiful conversation between two quintessentially traditional colours. Its red silk carries a warm, rich glow, while the emerald-green contrast brings the freshness of temple gardens and rain-washed foliage.
❖ Woven by hand in Kanchipuram over 21 days on the loom — a piece of a centuries-old weaving tradition, made with certified pure silk.

A lighter Kanchipuram construction in pomegranate red, with small gold zari buttas, an emerald-green contrast border and an emerald-green pallu of elongated gold zari bands. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this type represents approximately 21 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
The Body — A Rich Pomegranate Red
The pure silk body is woven in a radiant red that leans toward the richness of ripe pomegranate seeds, with warm crimson undertones. Small gold zari buttas appear sparingly across the silk, giving the otherwise expansive body a restrained, elegant sparkle. The smooth lustrous surface allows the strength of the colour itself to take centre stage.
The Border — Emerald and Gold
A brilliant emerald-green border frames the red silk with traditional gold zari work. Repeated fine golden lines and small temple-inspired triangular forms create a rhythmic architectural edge. The contrast is particularly lovely: the green remains rich and saturated, while the gold catches the light with understated brilliance.
The Pallu — Graceful Lines of Tradition
The beautiful green pallu is adorned with elongated parallel zari bands, featuring carefully arranged geometric lines and delicate pointed edging. Rather than overwhelming the drape, the gold detailing follows the natural movement of the silk, creating a refined, flowing composition.
Lightweight Kanchipuram — Tradition with Ease
Created for those who love the magnificence of Kanchipuram silk but prefer a lighter, more fluid drape, this saree offers beautiful traditional colour contrasts and gold zari ornamentation in a less weighty construction. It is an especially attractive choice when celebrations involve long hours of hosting, visiting family or moving between occasions.
Styling Notes
A deep emerald-green blouse in pure silk would make an exquisite companion. Choose a classic boat neck with elbow-length sleeves and narrow gold piping, or wear a simple red blouse for a monochromatic effect. Antique-gold temple earrings and a string of jasmine complete the look beautifully.
Ideal for Vijayadashami celebrations, Deepavali visits, Karthigai Deepam, temple gatherings, traditional family lunches, cultural programmes and festive housewarmings.
