Petal Pink Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Varisaipet Saree with Deep Arakku Mayil Kamalam Border

Petal Pink Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Varisaipet Saree with Deep Arakku Mayil Kamalam Border

A mellow petal pink moves into deep Arakku and burnished gold with unusual softness. The colours do not compete; instead, the border grows gradually richer through a sequence of traditional zari registers, giving the saree a composed old-Kanchi mood.

❖ 16 days of loom work went into this saree, handwoven in Kanchipuram by generations of artisan weaver families using certified pure silk.

The Varisaipet border is built through repeated narrow registers, allowing small changes in motif, line and colour to accumulate into a richly layered edge. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Deep Arakku and burnished gold frame the petal-pink body through stacked Varisaipet registers. Mayil and Kamalam motifs sit among Thazhampoo Reku and Vanki detailing, creating a border that reveals itself one narrow layer at a time.

Pallu: The pallu expands the same vocabulary into broader gold-zari sections and repeated traditional handwoven motifs, creating a grander finish without leaving the mellow colour story of the saree.

Styling: Deep Arakku silk would make an especially beautiful blouse, while a tonal pink blouse would keep the look softer. Antique-gold jewellery and jasmine work well with the warm zari and keep the saree rooted in its Kanchipuram character.

Lovely for Diwali dinners, engagements, wedding receptions, family ceremonies, Margazhi programs and cultural gatherings.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What is Varisaipet?
Varisaipet uses repeated narrow border registers arranged one after another. The effect is rhythmic and layered, with several small traditional details becoming one larger border composition.
What traditional motifs appear in this border?
The border brings together Mayil and Kamalam motifs with Thazhampoo Reku and Vanki detailing. The details are arranged in separate registers rather than being compressed into one broad motif band.
Why does the colour combination feel softer than many traditional Kanjivarams?
The petal-pink body has a muted, gentle quality, while deep Arakku and burnished gold provide warmth rather than a very sharp contrast. The result is rich but noticeably mellow.
Can Idam Living design a blouse using the Arakku border colour?
Yes. Deep Arakku would create a beautiful traditional contrast, while a tonal petal-pink blouse would keep the saree quieter. The blouse can be designed around whichever direction you prefer.
Is this Varisaipet saree Silk Mark certified?
Yes. It is woven in Pure Mulberry Silk and is part of Idam Living's Silk Mark certified Kanchipuram collection.
