Peacock Green and Magenta Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree
Peacock Green and Magenta Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree
The body is a luminous peacock-green silk, not a flat emerald: its blue-green undertone moves between deep teal and leaf green as light crosses the cloth. Small, evenly spaced gold-zari buttas are woven into the silk, leaving the beautiful colour and fine handloom grain to breathe.
A clear magenta-red edging encloses a restrained series of fine green and gold horizontal lines, narrow floral/geometric zari bands, and a wider teal-green silk band. The contrast looks like bright kumkum beside cool temple-tank water.
The grand traditional Seer pallu opens in a saturated ruby-magenta field with vertical gold zari seer lines and wider ornamental zari panels, framed by green and gold stripes.
Woven by hand in a lighter, fluid pure silk Kanchipuram construction, this saree preserves the expressive traditional handwoven zari vocabulary of Kanchipuram. The lighter feel makes the drape especially wearable while the silk retains its characteristic lustre and poise.
Styling: A rich magenta, emerald or antique-gold brocade silk blouse; try elbow sleeves and understated antique-gold jewellery so the colour contrast stays central.
Wear it to: Diwali gatherings, Karthigai Deepam, temple celebrations, and evening wedding festivities.
