Pastel Aqua Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Butta Saree with Ivory Zari Border

Pastel Aqua Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Butta Saree with Ivory Zari Border

Aqua blue moves across this Kancheepuram silk like shallow water under a quiet sky. Small Mayil Chakram zari buttas hold the body in a delicate rhythm, while the ivory-cream border introduces warmth before the pallu opens into dense gold zari, ornate registers and a finely ordered lattice.

❖ Handwoven over 16 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Certified pure silk, woven by artisan families who support their weaving village.

Woven in the Butta tradition, the pastel aqua blue body is kept deliberately open so the small handwoven Mayil Chakram zari buttas can punctuate the silk without overwhelming it. The ivory-cream contrast border and pallu bring a different visual density through their richer zari work. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Ivory-cream contrast border with layered gold zari bands and ornate traditional woven motifs. The warm zari gives the pale cream edge a softly burnished finish against the pastel body.

Pallu: Ivory-cream pallu with intricate zari registers and a finely ordered grid-lattice field. It is intentionally more detailed than the body, creating a luminous, ornate finish over the shoulder.

Styling: Try an ivory blouse for quiet sophistication or repeat the aqua for a clean monochromatic line. A few pastel French knots in aqua, cream and pale gold along the sleeve edge would add texture without making the blouse busy. Pearl-gold jewellery and fresh white flowers will keep the palette light.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What makes the body of this aqua saree visually light?
The Mayil Chakram zari buttas are small and spaced across an open pastel aqua ground. Because the body is not densely covered with zari, the silk colour remains clear and airy.
How does the ivory contrast change the overall colour impression?
The ivory-cream border softens the cool aqua and introduces a warmer ceremonial note through the gold zari. The contrast becomes strongest at the pallu, where the zari work is much denser.
What jewellery would work with this aqua and ivory combination?
Pearl-gold jewellery, fine antique-gold pieces or a single traditional necklace would all work well. Keeping stones and enamel within cream, pale green or aqua tones will preserve the saree’s calm colour story.
Can Idam Living make a custom blouse with French-knot work?
Yes. A custom blouse can take cues from the aqua body and ivory border. Small pastel French-knot embroidery on the sleeves or neckline would complement the delicacy of the buttas without competing with the pallu.
Is this saree Silk Mark certified?
Yes. The saree is presented within Idam Living’s Silk Mark certified Pure Silk Kanchipuram collection. Silk Mark concerns silk authenticity and does not certify the individual motif, colour or design.
