Orange and Pink Shot-Colour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Gold Zari Border

Orange and Pink Shot-Colour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Gold Zari Border

Orange and pink shot together create a shimmering double-shade silk that glows differently from every angle. Petite zari motifs sit across the body, while the stacked border and richly woven pallu give the saree a beautifully grounded finish.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 14 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Butta tradition, the orange-pink shot-colour body carries petite zari motifs at measured intervals, preserving the shimmer and natural lustre of the silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 14 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Layered handwoven gold-zari bands frame the shimmering body, giving the silk a strong traditional anchor.

Pallu: The pallu carries dense gold-zari brocade with close geometric work and ornamental registers, providing a rich counterpoint to the quieter body.

Styling: Antique-gold earrings, simple bangles and a softly tied bun are enough to complete this saree. The luminous orange-pink shimmer makes it especially graceful for Navratri, Deepavali, weddings, temple ceremonies and cultural occasions.

What does Butta mean on this Kanchipuram saree?
Butta refers to the individually spaced woven motifs across the silk body, allowing the shot-colour ground to remain visible between them.
How would you describe the colour?
The body is a double-shade shot colour of orange and pink with a shimmering finish, with warm gold-coloured zari.
Is this suitable for a festive celebration?
Yes. The luminous orange-pink shimmer feels lively in daylight and evening light, making it suitable for Navratri, Deepavali, weddings, temple events and festive gatherings.
Can the included blouse piece be custom stitched?
Yes. The saree includes a 0.8 metre running blouse piece, and Idam Living offers custom blouse stitching separately.
How should I care for the zari and silk?
Dry clean only, store folded in soft muslin away from direct sunlight, and avoid spraying perfume directly on either the silk or zari.
