Moss Olive and Plum Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree

Moss Olive and Plum Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree

An arresting olive-brown silk with an earthy cast of moss and bronze, somewhere between a monsoon leaf and the sunlit stone of an old Kanchipuram mandapam. Discreet gold-zari buttas make room for the silk’s natural, restrained lustre.

An aubergine-plum contrast border with an ornate broad gold-zari floral band and slim geometric edging. Its saturated dark purple-maroon tone makes the olive body look especially luminous.

The grand traditional Seer pallu takes on a deep plum-maroon tone, with gold-zari lengthwise seer lines and elaborate floral zari panels of varying widths.

Woven by hand in a lighter, fluid pure silk Kanchipuram construction, this saree preserves the expressive traditional handwoven zari vocabulary of Kanchipuram. The lighter feel makes the drape especially wearable while the silk retains its characteristic lustre and poise.

Styling: A plum, copper-gold or olive brocade silk blouse, styled with an elbow-length sleeve and a clean neckline; choose antique-gold jewellery.

Wear it to: Karthigai Deepam, temple functions, winter weddings, dinner celebrations and Margazhi performances.
