Marigold Yellow Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Korvai Saree with Royal Blue Border and Veldhari Zari

Marigold Yellow Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Korvai Saree with Royal Blue Border and Veldhari Zari

The warmth of marigolds laid out for a festival, held against the deep blue of the evening sky. Thin zari lines travel across the yellow like sunlight on a harvested field, while an unmistakable royal-blue border brings clarity and strength to the whole saree.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 20 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

This Korvai Kanchipuram makes its contrast architectural: golden-yellow silk joined to an emphatic royal-blue border. Fine horizontal Veldhari zari lines cross the body, quiet in scale but persistent in rhythm; their slender shine lets the large blue and gold pallu feel all the more celebratory. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 20 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A generous solid royal-blue Korvai silk border, cut sharply against the gold-yellow body. The edge is finished with several delicate handwoven gold-zari bands, leaf-like edging and closely repeated ornamental lines rather than densely packed figurative motifs.

Pallu: An expansive royal-blue pallu with a broad gold-zari diamond-grid panel, precise ornamental rails and toothed leaf-like outlines that frame the patterned centre.

Styling: A blue blouse with a clean high neckline will echo the broad border; a blouse in mustard-gold will make the silhouette look more uninterrupted. Choose modest gold temple earrings, a tidy plait and a small gold bangle. Arrange the pleats to reveal a measured band of blue.

Occasions: Especially appropriate for Deepavali celebrations, South Indian family ceremonies and winter temple cultural programmes.

Frequently bought together

Why is this yellow and blue saree called Korvai?
Its contrasting royal-blue border is joined to the yellow body in the traditional Korvai construction. That emphatic meeting of colour is the heart of this saree’s design.
Are the gold stripes on the yellow body woven into the silk?
Yes. The fine repeated horizontal zari lines are part of the Veldhari treatment, not added embroidery. They give the marigold field light-catching texture without covering it in large motifs.
How ornate is the blue pallu when worn over the shoulder?
The pallu has a dense small diamond-patterned gold-zari centre with shaped edging. It looks more detailed than the fairly open yellow body, especially when spread rather than tightly pleated.
Could I pair this with a blouse different from the running blouse piece?
A royal-blue blouse makes the contrast deliberate, while mustard-gold softens it. Idam Living can discuss custom blouse stitching; the saree itself includes a 0.8 m running blouse piece.
What does Silk Mark tell me about this Korvai silk?
Silk Mark is an authenticity system for silk, not a guarantee about a motif or metallic zari composition. Idam Living is a Silk Mark authorised user, and this product is offered as pure mulberry silk.
