Marigold Orange and Temple Purple Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree

Marigold Orange and Temple Purple Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree

Bright and spirited, the body is the colour of marigold garlands in afternoon sunshine, an orange alive with hints of flame and ripe persimmon. Tiny woven zari buttas catch the light in the uncluttered silk, letting the saturated body colour make its own statement.

The contrast border turns a vivid purple-magenta, framed by fine gold zari lines and a broad gold zari floral and temple-inspired band; narrow ribbed purple fields lend the border a graceful rhythm.

The grand traditional Seer pallu is a deep purple-magenta, with traditional gold-zari seer stripes and ornamented lengthwise woven panels, a regal contrast to the orange body.

Woven by hand in a lighter, fluid pure silk Kanchipuram construction, this saree preserves the expressive traditional handwoven zari vocabulary of Kanchipuram. The lighter feel makes the drape especially wearable while the silk retains its characteristic lustre and poise.

Styling: A royal-purple, magenta or antique-gold brocade silk blouse would heighten its festive brilliance. Style with a low bun and restrained gold jhumkas.

Wear it to: Diwali celebrations, Karthigai Deepam, Indian-American cultural performances, weddings and Pongal gatherings.
