Maragatham Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Lavender Rettapet Zari Border
Maragatham Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Lavender Rettapet Zari Border
Deep Maragatham green gives this saree a cool, saturated body, softened by a lavender-mauve Rettapet border and pallu. Classic-gold zari warms the contrast, so the palette moves between jewel green, dusky lavender and old-gold rather than reading as a conventional bright combination.
❖ This saree was woven over 18 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by weaver families whose craft has been passed down for generations.

Woven in the Rettapet tradition, the saree combines twin-register border detailing with a zari double kattam body. Mayil and kamalam buttas sit within the grid, adding traditional motif detail to the geometric field. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: The lavender-mauve Rettapet border is structured with arai maadam and fine gold-zari bands, creating a cool frame against the deep Maragatham body.
Pallu: The pallu is woven as a dense zari grid on the lavender-mauve ground, carrying the geometric language of the body into a richer, more luminous finish.
Styling: Try a muted lavender blouse for a soft tonal bridge to the pallu, or choose deep green for a cleaner monochrome line. Antique-gold earrings, a single bangle stack and a low bun work well here. The unusual green-lavender balance suits both temple dressing and evening cultural events.
Occasions: Well suited to Navratri temple visits, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, weddings, receptions, Margazhi concerts and winter cultural gatherings.
