Lilac Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Rani Pink Varisaipet Border

Lilac Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Rani Pink Varisaipet Border

Lilac purple, gentle as a jacaranda blossom after rain, meets the vivid pink of temple flowers. Tiny zari lines shimmer over the silk before widening into a beautifully worked pink and gold pallu.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

The Zari Kattam checks here sit delicately across a cool lilac field, giving the silk fine golden movement without disturbing its soft colour. Yazhi and peacock buttas are spaced among the checks, their zari catching light in a gentle, measured way. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Rich rani pink anchors a Varisaipet border in which woven silk threads and zari take turns in narrow, luminous rows. Peacock and flying-horse motifs bring ornament and movement, while the pink-and-gold palette gives this saree its festive warmth.

Pallu: The rani pink pallu expands into an intricate gold zari lattice and paisley field. What begins as delicate checks on lilac becomes a vibrant tapestry of closely worked geometry.

Styling: Pair with a plain rani pink or lilac blouse and restrained gold jewellery. A soft braid with fresh flowers would echo the floral quality of the colour, while an open pallu shows the transition from delicate checks to richly patterned zari.

A graceful choice for Navratri poojas, Diwali dinners, family celebrations and festive musical evenings.

Frequently bought together

What gives the lilac silk its fine golden texture?
The body is woven in Zari Kattam, a fine grid of gold-zari lines, with additional Yazhi and peacock buttas appearing at intervals.
Is the rani pink border only metallic zari?
No. The Varisaipet border interweaves silk thread and gold zari into decorative rows, with peacock and flying-horse motifs.
How does the pink pallu differ from the lilac body?
The body has small zari checks and spaced buttas. The vivid pink pallu is much more densely patterned, with gold paisley and a lattice-grid field.
What blouse could I choose for this saree?
The saree includes a 0.8 m running blouse piece, and Idam Living also offers custom blouse stitching. Pair with a plain rani pink or lilac blouse and restrained gold jewellery.
What makes this handwoven Kanchipuram saree an heirloom choice?
Its Zari Kattam weave was worked by hand in Kanchipuram, with around 16 active days on the loom in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing. The pure silk, carefully worked motifs and finished pallu are made to be cared for and worn over many years.
