Lavender Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Deep Violet Vanasringaram Zari Border

Lavender Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Deep Violet Vanasringaram Zari Border

Lavender purple deepens into saturated violet and antique gold in a colour pairing that feels both jewel-like and thoroughly classic. Because both silks belong to the purple family, the contrast is tonal rather than abrupt, allowing the zari motifs to carry much of the visual drama.

❖ This saree reflects 16 days on the loom and generations of weaving heritage from Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Certified pure silk, handwoven by artisan families whose work sustains their village.

Woven in the Butta tradition, the lavender body carries Gandaberunda zari motifs at measured intervals, allowing each double-headed bird form to remain distinct against the silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: The deep-violet Vanasringaram border is the richly narrative counterpoint to the quieter body, filled with dense antique-gold figurative and floral zari work. Its broad ornamental field gives the saree the character of an older ceremonial Kanchipuram.

Pallu: The pallu is considerably denser, with an all-over zari lattice framed by elaborate traditional motif bands. The deeper violet base makes the antique-gold surface appear especially luminous.

Styling: Deep violet makes an elegant tonal blouse, while antique gold adds a more ceremonial finish. Keep jewellery warm rather than bright yellow-gold, and drape the pallu broadly so the lattice and Vanasringaram details remain visible.

Well suited to Navratri, Diwali, wedding receptions, temple celebrations, classical performances, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

Frequently bought together

What makes this a Butta Kanchipuram saree?
Individual Gandaberunda motifs are woven at measured intervals across the lavender body, so each zari butta remains distinct rather than merging into an all-over pattern.
What is the Gandaberunda motif?
Gandaberunda is the traditional double-headed bird motif used in South Indian decorative language. On this saree it appears as a gold-zari body butta.
What is Vanasringaram in the border?
Vanasringaram refers to the richly ornamental figurative and floral language of the border. Here it appears in dense antique-gold zari against deep violet.
Which blouse colour would you recommend?
Deep violet gives the most harmonious tonal contrast, while antique gold creates a more formal festive look. Idam Living can design the blouse in either direction.
Why are two handwoven sarees never perfectly identical?
Small variations in yarn tension and handloom placement are normal in individually woven silk. They are distinct from actual damage, which is checked separately before dispatch.
