Kesari Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Kaapi Brown Zari Border
Kesari Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Kaapi Brown Zari Border
The warmth of kesari orange, like the last light across a Kanchipuram courtyard, is framed by deep kaapi brown and fine threads of old-gold zari. A few small golden buttas give the body space to breathe.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 14 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Small, spaced buttas punctuate the warm orange silk body, while the broad kaapi-brown border is organised into a clean gold-toned zari kattam grid. The compact pallu pattern offers a second, far more intricate register of weaving without overwhelming the orange field. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 14 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Deep kaapi brown silk border structured with crisp, open gold-toned zari kattam checks and a delicate parallel-line edge treatment.
Pallu: Elaborately handwoven kaapi-brown pallu with closely packed gold-toned circular and geometric motifs, fine border registers and a darker plain brown panel.
Styling: A plain deep-brown blouse lets the golden checks around the hem echo the pallu, while an understated ochre blouse would draw warmth from the kesari-orange body. Try a single antique-gold chain and a soft side braid. Keep the pleats tidy to show the open brown-and-gold checked border.
