Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Korvai Saree with Green Meenakari Floral Buttas

Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Korvai Saree with Green Meenakari Floral Buttas

Warm ivory silk is given just enough colour through an Arakku-red border and tiny green Meenakari accents within the floral buttas. The palette is serene from a distance and increasingly intricate up close, with the red and gold pallu bringing a more ceremonial finish.

❖ This saree carries 20 days of loom work behind it, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan families continuing a generations-old craft.

The Korvai construction gives the ivory body and Arakku-red border a distinct contrast, creating a clean frame around the lighter silk. Floral zari buttas are highlighted with small green Meenakari silk-thread accents, adding colour without disturbing the calm ground. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 20 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: An Arakku-red Korvai border is woven with a broad gold-zari floral scroll band, narrow geometric edging and a lustrous gold field. The red gives the ivory body a classic ceremonial frame.

Pallu: The pallu deepens into Arakku red with dense gold zari, a fine diamond-grid field and ornamental side bands, giving the shoulder drape a rich but balanced finish.

Styling: This is an easy saree to keep quiet or make formal. Pair it with ivory, Arakku red, bottle green or antique gold. Emerald or kemp accents can pick up the green Meenakari thread, while pearls keep the look softer for daytime ceremonies and temple gatherings.

How is the contrast created in this ivory Korvai saree?
The warm ivory body is framed by an Arakku-red Korvai border, giving the saree a strong colour break rather than a tonal edge. The red and gold become more prominent in the pallu while the ivory body remains visually calm.
What is special about the green Meenakari detail in the floral buttas?
The floral zari buttas carry small green silk-thread accents, adding a second colour within the motif. The detail is subtle from a distance and becomes more apparent when the silk is seen closely.
Would this ivory and red saree work for a daytime ceremony?
Yes. The ivory body keeps the overall impression light enough for daytime use, while the Arakku-red and gold border provides ceremonial definition. Pearls, antique gold or restrained emerald accents would all work well.
Why can ivory silk look slightly different in photographs?
Warm ivory can shift between cream, pale champagne and softer off-white depending on lighting and screen settings. Idam Living can provide daylight photos or videos on request when a closer colour reference is helpful.
Is this saree Silk Mark certified?
Idam Living is a Silk Mark certified authorised user, and the product page links to the certificate. Silk Mark relates to silk authenticity; it does not certify the motif, colour or design vocabulary of the saree.
