Peacock Teal Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Royal Violet Border

Peacock Teal Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Royal Violet Border

A peacock-neck teal, touched with both river blue and leaf green, unfolds beneath a sharp royal-violet border. Slender threads of zari cross the teal in a gleaming grid, and the contrast opens into long patterned lines of gold across the pallu.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

The fine Zari Kattam lattice gives the peacock-teal body a steady shimmer, its intersecting lines remaining visible even in the deeper blue-green folds. Along the royal-violet contrast silk, small Mayil Chakram motifs add a dotted gold counterpoint. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: The violet border carries its Kanchipuram detailing in distinct stacked bands, with fine geometric rails, scrolling floral-inspired zari and an expansive textured gold register. The clear difference between body and border is the principal colour feature of this saree.

Pallu: The large royal-violet pallu becomes an arrangement of long woven zari rows: narrow patterned stripes interspersed with more intricate brocade bands and a broad floral-geometric panel. The elongated design gives the shoulder drape strong vertical movement.

Styling: Choose a royal-violet blouse with short sleeves for an unbroken border-led look, or a plain peacock-teal silk blouse for continuity with the body. Brushed-gold earrings, a fine waist belt if desired and loosely gathered hair would complement the tall zari lines of the pallu.

Occasions: A vivid option for Diwali parties, temple celebrations, a music or Bharatanatyam recital, and winter wedding festivities.

Frequently bought together

Why does this Zari Kattam body look both blue and green?
The body sits in the peacock-teal colour family, with blue-green depth beneath its fine zari grid. Light can draw out different parts of that colour, so daylight photographs or video are available on request.
How is the violet pallu different from the checked body?
The body uses small regular zari checks, whereas the royal-violet pallu shifts into elongated, closely worked zari stripes with wider floral-geometric brocade bands. That contrast becomes particularly visible when the pallu is draped over the shoulder.
What would make this bright colour pairing feel contemporary?
A cleanly tailored plain violet blouse, lightly brushed-gold jewellery and a simple open-pallu drape keep the visual focus on the teal-and-purple pairing rather than adding further colours.
Does Idam Living offer different neckline options for a custom blouse?
Idam Living offers custom blouse stitching as an optional add-on. You can discuss a more covered neckline, deeper neckline or sleeve length before the blouse design is finalised.
Is standard USA shipping included with this saree?
Standard shipping within the USA is complimentary under the current Idam Living policy. Custom blouse stitching and other optional services can affect fulfilment time, so request a dispatch estimate when purchasing for a particular event.
